With high value, for thousands of years, many people have searched for oud in nature, exploited and used. However, the exploitation of too much, leading to the endangered nature's oud.
In high demand with the development of science, researchers have discovered sedimentation technology. Oud cultivation is inherently laborious and costly. Without a suitable implantation method, economic damage can be huge.
In addition, Vietnam's natural conditions are also suitable for oud tree(Aquilariacrassna) to grow. These factors are the driving force behind the development of oud garden in Vietnam.
In Vietnam, in the last 30 years or so, growers have begun researching to find methods of sedimentation for the conservation and development of this wood. Three methods are currently applied:
Physical method - causing mechanical injuries: this method mainly uses physical impact to cut pieces of barrels, scrap iron, nails, etc. to close the trunk of a tree
Chemical method - influenced by some chemical stimulus: this method is widely used in Vietnam, effective in a short period of time (the duration of depression formation is 18-24 months). However, the disadvantage of this method is that there are some toxic substances such as CI, SO4, PO3 ... in the product. affects product quality and is not accepted in many countries. The volume of oud collected on each tree is also not high because the layer of oud collected is very thin
Biological method - affected by several biological preparations: this method is to disease plants with identified microbial or bacterial yeast. This method has a high success rate and limits the residual amount of hazardous substances in the product. This helps to produce a plant with the same quality, smell and value as the oud in nature, but the time to create the oud has been reduced.
